new new new

Today is my first Monday and full week as a 'business owner.'

Now to just register the LLC! And then I'll actually be a business owner.

First things first: The government paperwork is TOO complicated. All these forms and boxes and asking you to fill out the ID for the form you're filling out to GET the ID. Someone please explain to me why they're going request you provide this number on the form that you have to submit to get THAT SAME NUMBER?!

Morons.

But, I'm so thankful that I have smart and talented friends that are helping me figure this stuff out. One day at a time.

Time to pick a company name... and get that approved with my partner.

Workity work work!

This is like Xanga. Or LiveJournal. Only I don't feel as cool.

Just looked at my good ole' Xanga before writing this sentence.

Man, was I a trendsetter. Which is pretty impressive for how much of a loser I was in high school. (It's cool, I'm comfortable with that. I feel like I'm better now because of it.)

I'm currently creating a 'social media' presentation for a real estate leadership convention I'm speaking at next week. These people are paying me to tell them about social media.

I'm not going to lie, it seems pretty ridiculous. Back when I was writing on good ole' Xanga, starting back in like, what, 2002 (holy crap I feel old), the term "social media" didn't even exist.

And now, there is a whirlwind of a storm. Every kind of interactive media Joe Schmo can think up.

I'm literally learning as I create this presentation, because the stuff I thought I knew has already changed. I could not tell these people to use Xanga. That would be like telling them to use MySpace. So here I am, bloggering.

And that's what I'm going to lead with. "Good afternoon folks. Thanks for listening to this presentation, however, in another 6 months you'll need a refresher."

Actually, I'm debating whether to start with that or with "Back in the day..."

Honestly, all this interactive social internetness makes me feel like life is moving at warp speed. Constantly.

So, I'm actually pretty pleased that I'm having to look up a lot of this stuff. It makes me feel like I'm taking the time to stop and smell the roses. Write a letter (with a pen). Look up at the trees. Actually listen to some music on a CD. Read a book.

And onward I go.
